First year (almost second) here. I hope it's not obviously to everyone involved on the transaction that I have literally no idea what I'm doing. Im just gonna keep sending emails and hope that if I mess up someone above me catches and corrects.

Big law associate with 2 years litigation experience + 1 year transactional. Just got let go from my firm because work was very slow over the last ~6ish months. Any firms in LA hiring? Any associates that want to pass along my resume?

I’m a lawyer based in Europe. I’m lateraling to a firm in a new jurisdiction on Monday and negotiated a decent pay increase a few months ago (new jurisdiction has significantly higher income taxes so negotiated based on a comparable net pay). My old firm has just announced it is increasing salaries by around 15% which will almost negate what I negotiated at new firm. New firm doesn’t review salaries till September. What are my options here so that I’m not out of pocket?

Rising 4th year here. I’m happy at my current firm, but I hear another firm is planning to try and poach me. Are firms seriously giving cold offers right now? Given the lateral market and that I’m happy where I’m at and have nothing to lose, I’m thinking I’ll ask for a ridiculous signing bonus and just see what happens. Is $100k too big an ask in this market for a rising 4th year? I’ve seen talk of $300k+ signing bonuses being thrown around (likely for more senior associates obviously).

I’m a senior associate in BL and wondering if anyone experiences the same as me. Every morning without fail I have a panic attack, I feel flush, full of anxiety, overwhelmed, heart racing and feel like elephant on my chest. I lie in bed for hours and find it hard to get up until there’s a pressing need, like a call or urgent email. It’s not caused by any specific worry but more just a daily thing (and I work in a relatively good BL practice too). Anyone go through the same? How do you recover?
