Keep it simple. Remember the standard. Don’t get bogged down in cases unless the case matters (but keep a list of relevant facts from important cases in case the court wants them). Make an outline but don’t be wedded to it. You have to go with the flow of the argument, especially since it’s an opp. And try to relax. If you’re a first year and you’re arguing it, it likely means that (i) the more senior people trust you and (ii) it’s not case critical.
Fellow first year who also argued a motion recently. Do everything Counsel 1 said. Especially the last part: if it truly was a make or break hearing they would not send a first year/child to argue it. And don’t put too much pressure on yourself. You’ll be more prepared than you think.
