First year BA question - do I need personal car insurance for booking rental cars? My manager said I do. Apparently Deloitte only covers "around" your personal car insurance for accidents?

Yes you need insurance. They make you fill that out when you get hired.

You need to read the papers you've signed. They do usually require liability insurance. They will cover you if it is someone else's fault, but I don't think they do if you cause the accident. Also, you should opt out of the extra insurance when you rent the car because your corporate Amex (which you should be charging it on) automatically provides that rental car insurance.

I was in two accidents and my company's insurance covered both

Former rental car manager here: the "insurance" you purchase from a rental car company is one of two forms, damage waiver and liability. Our firm's rental agreements with the car companies only include the former. Basically, if you back into a pole, Hertz agrees to eat the cost of the repair as part of their contract.

The liability is a separate thing, because that is an actual underwritten insurance policy that can pay out. Rental contracts don't include this, unless you are US Gov on orders.

Therefore, if you don't own a car, it is recommended you at least posses a "liability only" policy for a non car owner. Call the insurer for your home or rental, they'll offer it, probably for not very much.

NO. You are not required to have your own insurance policy...Nah, you don't need insurance. Your firms policy covers all Deloitte drivers. That said, just buy the insurance when you rent a car.

I was told by my PM to opt out of the insurance coverage

Never had insurance because I don't have a car in NYC

So if you are Renting a car for business purpose, use the travel portal and insurance is built into the price. If you are using the company rental code (which is available on intranet) for personal travel then you need to take a separate insurance. If you are driving personal vehicle for Everyday commute to client then the company requires you to have insurance on your car. Coverage limits are mentioned on the intranet.

After house and car purchase, my monthly cashflow is now only +$500 where it used to be $1,500. I have around $30,000 in savings, but can only save $500 a month (besides the 10% contribution into 401K). Is this a bad sign of my financial health? Im 30 and just purchased my first home and put down around $100,000 (20% downpayment). Salary + bonus is around $110k. Thank you!!
