So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

I’ll help a millennial out here. I keep meeting younger kids who seem clueless about the obvious. 1) Show up on time 2) Do your job correctly. If you don’t know how find someone to help you. 3) Don’t show up hungover as shit all the time. 4) Don’t take long ass 2 hour lunches 5) don’t leave early if critical work needs to be done 6) Do what you say you will do 7) Be reliable - see number six. 8) Find some shit Ito do if you literally have nothing going on 9) Don’t fuck around all day on YouTube or social media 10) Basically do your damn job. So little is expected at your level you must have made name for yourself as the team fuck up by not reliably finishing tasks, taking a long time to finish your tasks, turning in shitty half assed work after taking too long etc. I’d imagine your manager hates you at this point and views you as a liability when assigning work. View your low rating as an affirmation of the above and not, “my boss is a dick”. With some hard work you may even turn this around. Good luck.

Manager 1 not helpful lol
Make sure to have conversations with your project leadership M & SM about your goals on your projects at the onset, then check in regularly to get feedback and adjust. If you’re showing strong improvement you can turn things around quickly. I know of more than one SC that got a 4 their first year and a 1 or 2 their second year
Maybe you should have tried harder during the year.
It would help if you posted what the feedback was. What did your counselor say your due diligence contacts and leads said was the issue?
Usually a 4 comes with a PIP unless you managed to outdo my staffit numbers and they're sending a message. With a brick. They ought to have clear points of improvement for you to hit.
Did they imply you might be on that track or note any improvement?
Huh? I thought we weren’t getting number ratings anymore....did I miss something??
@D3- some groups were in a pilot this year and there were no ratings. Other groups kept the same as previous years
Never saw anyone at D make it past mid year with a 4.
Sheesh Uncle D gives no time to improve. Can they at least give a year. I hope it works out for you OP.
look for an opportunity else where and get a fresh start?
