First year in litigation here. Just had a meet & confer call today with opposing counsel (first time speaking with him) and within 5 minutes after the call, he added me on linkedin. Is this normal?

Totally fine. Person is just trying to expand their network, something that makes eminent sense. Folks always think of everything within the now timeframe but careers take many twists and turns and there is nothing wrong with building a network for the future. He is opposing counsel today, he may be an in-house contact that you want to reach out to in 6 years. If you keep this in mind rather than the fake hostility of the moment you will be well served

A1, what type of law do you practice?

Definitely not the norm but I don’t see anything wrong with it either. It’s an opportunity to build your network. And hopefully this is a sign that they won’t be a total ass to deal with.

I think it’s totally normal. It’s not your Insta. It’s the most basic of professional online connections.

Lol no, kinda weird, unless y’all end up working together a ton and become casual with each other. And even then…

I've been in litigation 7 years and I don't think I've ever added anyone on LinkedIn that didn't work with me or went to law school with me.

Then you are kind of doing it wrong

I accepted an offer from TCS and later got a better offer from another company. Now if I refused to join TCS, will be able to join TCS later in my career? Asking this cause I heard ex employees can't join back as there was a policy change. Technically I'm not still a TCS employee yet but just asking to make sure. Thank you.

This is the most basic question, so yep, I’m asking you to take it easy on me when you reply. I have been practicing for about 5 years total. I have been in civil practice for 2 years. These 2 years have been the most demoralizing, unfulfilling 2 years of my life. I have been giving myself pep talks to find the “positive” spin on it but firm life isn’t for me. I know networking is key but do you have some thoughts/suggestions on how to make an exit...crying at therapy is becoming too much.
