3rd year, and make mistakes all the time. All good my friend

Yeah, 5th year at white shoe. The mistakes never end. You just can’t repeat the same mistakes

And you’ll realize over time not all mistakes are equal and some won’t bother you anymore.

Totally normal part of being a first year as long as you (1) don’t keep making the same ones over and over and (2) admit it was your mistake. I’ve learned that almost nothing is unfixable!

I have a friend who has been at 4 firms in 6 years. She wants me to refer her to my firm (a v25) but I actually don’t think she’s a great atty and substantively isn’t experienced in the area she wants to work (wants to do tech trans but had experience in trademark prosecution and ip lit). Do I just not submit her? I would hate to work with her.

I’m an IP associate (focused mainly on trademarks) in an AMLaw 200 firm (slightly below NY market pay) and I’m curious to know what IP groups (mainly trademark related practices) at V50 firms are like. My practice is relatively chill. No major fires to put out - steady and predictable 8-9 billable hours a day. I can generally not work on weekends. Am I at a unicorn shop or is this normal for Trademark practices?

I rarely work weekends and my WLB isn’t that bad. Is my experience really that atypical? V20 firm, class of 2017, never billed under 2k in a year.
