Moderna > Pfizer > J&J

@D4, yup, the gap between Moderna and Pfizer is fairly close. That said Moderna is still clinically "better", initial doses carry over 3x the amount of mRNA that Pfizer has and empirically reduce breakthru hospitalizations by low double digits % deltas in comparison. Again, not that Pfizer isnt also good, just that I personally would stick to Moderna if I had the choice between the two

Had Covid early on in the pandemic, kept getting tested for antibodies about once a quarter. Got Pfizer while still showing antibodies about a year after having the virus. First shot side effects were pretty strong for about 12 hours (felt just like Covid + my arm hurt and the pain radiated down my back). Did not feel the second shot at all.

like

Yeah I was terrified of the second shot and then it was totally fine. I chalked it up to the antibodies and figured the second shot for me was more like a booster If it’s any consolation for you, it seems like the studies are showing that natural covid infection + 2 mRNA shots creates a superhuman resistance to all SARS viruses, which I’m pretty excited about

like

I had covid and got Moderna - definitely the worst side effects of anyone I know, but also not nearly as miserable as actually getting covid

like

I have JJ and would recommend another shot. I feel like my shot is less protective - already had a breakthrough case.

like

Yes, colleague had JJ and has been down three weeks with Covid now. He suffered quite a bit.

Had covid …. Got Pfizer when I still had antibodies. First shot is fine. I got very sick after the second. High fever and couldn’t get out of bed for 3 days. If I could go back I’d probably chose a different one.

like

COVID then J&J two months later and was fine. I chose J&J because it is a challenge for me to make appointments so I wanted one appointment instead of two

like

I got a fever the day after second dose of Pfizer but after taking Advil, felt better by the following day

helpful

Had Covid in Dec. & got Pfizer in July/Aug. Zero side effects. Traveling internationally for work in 2 weeks… still a pain because I need a negative PCR Covid test within 72 hrs of departure (for Canada).

like

Pfizer

Pfizer it’s just the most recognizable one ☝️

Never had COVID and I got Pfizer. First shot I was okay, second shot I had high fever and fatigue.

Pfizer if you’re choosing between the two.

Definitely Moderna. If you’re interested, listen to the how I built this episode where they talk about company history and development of the vaccine.
