Fish, need advice. I received an offer $5k less than the lowest number in the salary range I provided the recruiter. Isn’t the rule of thumb to not move for less than a 30% salary increase?

Depends on level... 30% is a bit much, though. You wouldn’t see much mobility if anyone followed that rule

No, not less than I am currently making - the offer was less than the lowest number I gave in my range C2

So they basically met your range and you’re not happy? Sounds like you screwed everyone by giving them bad info

They came in LOWER than the provided range C2

How do you negotiate comp when you get a job offer? Have a call with the director and expecting an offer but this is my second job and I have never negotiated before. I undersold myself with my first job and didn’t negotiate. Am I allowed to use a large bonus I will forego as a reason for sign on bonus? Scared I will get too excited again and just be like “sign me up, I’ll take it”. Any insight appreciated

Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.

Does anyone have any advice on how to figure out what the average multiplier for billable hours is in a certain city? If this isn’t clear, I’ll receive x ($) times (the difference between my max billable hours and my min) as my yearly bonus. I know what number my firm uses but was told it’s been the same for years. I’d love to advocate for a raise with numbers reflecting averages in our city but have no idea how to find this information. Thanks!

I applied for a role and had an initial phone screen with the recruiter, who let me know they would move forward with my application but for the next level down. I’m leaning towards bringing this and comp questions up further down the line in the process but wondering if this is the right approach. I don’t want to waste their and my time if they’re not willing to consider me for the level I applied for.
