My first job out of college was in industry and it was so laid back that my boss never logged me as going on vacation. So my pto hours accrued for close to 3 years, and got paid out fully when I left because at they didn’t have a “use it or lose it” policy.
We didn’t have time sheets there, but for pto he was supposed to put it in the system so it would update my balance. He just never did.
My last consulting job I accrued the max I was able to before leaving (think it was around 178 hours of PTO)
I had a job that gave you an hour of PTO for every hour over 40 you worked. They let you cash out every six months. My first cash out was 7 months into working there. Cashed out around $18k, which gave us enough to get our down payment for our first home. 440 hours over 40 in 7 months. I left shortly after that and cashed out another $4k.
Never worked like that before or since.
I’m about to cash out for $33k of PTO payout
Does retirement contribution and other deductions (medical insurance) get taken out of PTO payout ?
