Fishbowl fam,
Apologies for this but I’m really confused and looking for some help. My wife and I make about 400k pre-tax (gross income). We max our 401k. Is backdoor Roth an option for us? How should we go about it. Any tips would be super helpful as I’ve read through some prior posts but it isn’t still very clear to me. Thanks!!

Backdoor Roth is an option for everybody. Mega backdoor is only available to some, depending on employer plan. Happy to answer questions about either

Thank you. I didn’t know backdoor was an option for folks in our income bracket! How should I go about Mega backdoor Roth?

Yes, you can do Backdoor Roth. Check out Physician in Fire or Finance Buff for step by step.

Hello my sharks 🦈 from IBM 😇
I have a query with regards to HRA deduction that we can claim as non taxable.

So in my offer letter, it is written that max 50% of basic salary can be used for house rent.

My basic salary is 7,00,000. So how much deduction can I show for HRA, considering the The Income Tax Act Section 10-13A?

I want to reduce the tax as much as possible through HRA, but I believe there is a limit upto which deductions will be considered.

Thanks in advance guys🙂

Looking at houses around $800k. Just got introduced to the idea of a jumbo loan…. I have about $125,000 in equity in my current house, which will probably be closer to $100k by the time closing is done. My local lender is requiring 20% down on a jumbo loan, which I don’t have. My first question is—does anyone know of a lender who doesn’t require 20% on a jumbo? Second, I have about $100k equity in a rental property but lender requires 40% down on investment properties for a HELOC. Help!
