For Accenture peeps there are several negotiation courses on offer that are seriously fantastic. Try to take the longest one. Lots of practical examples and insights from the group. I’d also recommend the audio book “never split the difference” for fantastic tips and tricks on maneuvering effectively through sales convos. It’s by a guy who was an fbi negotiator and changed the whole game. It’s fascinating. The. I would also suggest tagging in on sales teams as a participant observer. It won’t be about getting sales credit but about learning the ropes. The first time I did this I was also able to take advantage of the orals coaches they brought in. I asked if I could take a crack at pitching for my workstream even though I was not on the team and I got incredible and useful feedback. I was able to practice a few times. In the end I was included in the orals presentation and they asked me to replace the more senior person who was slated to present. It was terrifying but such a growth experience. Learn from your colleagues when the cost of failure is low by being an engaged support. The hours will be grueling but it is such a great way to learn.
