Folks, we recently went to a new construction showing by appointment and it completely slipped my mind to let the showing agent know beforehand that I have a realtor. We like the house but now the selling agent is saying the NJ law doesn’t allow us to work with our realtor but with this him. Ofcourse this guy will have his vested interest in selling the house. What are my options in this case? NJ market

I’m looking to purchase a home. I have enough for 20% down and I qualify for a traditional mortgage but my dad suggested he lend me the full cash to make the sale that way I have more negotiating room and can close faster. Then once I close I can refinance it and keep 20% in the house and pay my dad back for the 20%. Is there a downside to this? Will it get messy?

Question: we’re in the process of closing on a personal home that’s a new build. If we use the preferred lender, we get $5k in closing costs. Can I close with the preferred lender and turn around and refinance with a different lender? Will I have to pay closing costs again?
