More context: I live in an expensive apartment downtown in a major city. Even as restrictions relax, I don't know anyone here that I could hang out with. On the flip side, moving home seems like giving up on a new phase I was so excited about (yes, a first world problem in this context but it still feels like a tough choice)

Was kinda thinking it'd be nice to have friends too
Depends on how much you like your family and if you’ll go insane being with them everyday, all day. If you don’t mind then I say save some money and move home.
Appreciate it. Am lucky to have a very supportive family, but yes still need some personal space after years living alone ha!
Just can't imagine not seeing people in person for months. Who wants to make new friends or date in this climate? Sadly that will have to wait

Stick it out. It will make you mentally stronger.
I would do it 100%. Love my family so makes it easy.

Sounds like you’re a bit lonely and feeling a bit disillusioned with this whole moving out and starting a new chapter kind of thing. I don’t blame you... coronavirus got us all second guessing our lives. Honestly if its going to save you some money, move back in and tell them you’re going to ride out coronavirus 2020 with your loved ones instead of by yourself.

I would move back and start fresh in 2021, being lonely during a pandemic is tough!
I totally understand you. I’m also wondering what to do about my lease; I live in SF. If you have a good family life, it wouldn’t be the worst thing to move back and save the money. Just depends on how much you love your current apt vs how difficult it would be to move out and move back into an apt later on.
All excellent points. I think packing the place up would be manageable and I'd drive the UHaul myself (doable in a long day). I can store it all at home. Nothing special about this apartment (other than some amazing amenities that have been closed for 2mo) and I think it'd be easy to find something similar if/when I come back.
