After doing good work together, I won awards individually, turned down a job offer to stay in this company...was let go and it turned out my cd who dealt with my pay etc and decided where briefs went had never raised the job I turned down with management, I was earning less and he had been giving the good opportunities to the other junior ad. Ended in me getting a pay off...

Best time to quit Just got my h1b visa approved today. I want to quit soon. But my start date at the new company is jan 10th. The company holidays begin from 23rd dec to jan 1st. I am confused about when to quit If I quit before 23rd then I can give a good 2 weeks notice but I’ll lose out on my unemployment days(can be unemployed only for 60 days on h1b) . I’ll also get a good break before my new job. Can I put in my resignation just before the holidays to quit on 3rd?

Thoughts on Deloitte getting rid of diversity groups...it seems unnecessary to me. IMO Including white males in the discussion can be accomplished without disbanding groups.
What type of self help strategies do individuals actually find helpful when you feel burn out or stuck in a rut? Any books, apps, meditation, podcasts, etc, others find helpful? I've done therapy and it has definitely helped this past year with covid and a marriage separation, starting to feel like I'm making progress and want to keep up the momentum. Looking to see what type of self help others find actually beneficial and would love to use that to help others stuck in burn out too
When doing background checks before you get an offer do they look at employment history or just criminal background? My friend has been unemployed for over a year but just received a job offer. He was fired from his last job and has been stating he still works there. How likely are employers to find out that he was lying?
Is there mobile device reimbursement in EY GDS? As in PWC SDC we get 27k on purchase of pre decided mobile for office use.
Have an offer for 30% raise and work that I want to do at another firm. Also have a pretty solid guarantee from leadership I can do the same work at Deloitte, but no additional comp adjustment (outside of the mid year bump). So like a lot of us, I've put on some considerable weight during covid. I had to go into office but everyone's wearing casual - so I bought myself a pair of Good American jeans so they'll hold evening together lol. I bought size 2(my precovid size) & 4(my current size). I could fit myself in size 2 & decided to just put those on instead of size 4. And boy was that a mistake. Ugh - if I sit, it's uncomfortable. If I stand - it's uncomfortable. Ugh. No question here. Still NO PROMOTION Talent f/b to coach - 'Scatterplot cut off didn't meet, can do better next yr' MD called today - 'You are doing good work, want to reward you 1.5L bonus with 12 month retention policy' I said - 'I am 100% sure I would be returning it if I accept, hence I decline this' Wats his next step?
Me: I've been working 14 hr days non-stop. Employer: We've all been working hard. It's a tough time for the industry. Me: It's not sustainable and I'm burning out. I need help. Employer: Totally get it. We are understaffed so we need you to be flexible about taking on more responsibilities. Me: If I'm taking on more responsibilities, would my compensation be able to reflect that increase? Employer: It's tight this year. Economy/pandemic etc. Me: I'm leaving.
