Federal much, SC1?
But seriously, don't cheat on expenses. If you land at midnight, sure. If you land at 5:30 have cereal at home, you cheap bastard
I always expense dinner when i land....granted i get home so late its always a toss up between ihop or mcdonalds
As far I know PwC policy allows expensing dinner at your home location on the day you land, don’t worry about it , go ahead and expense it.Further, a 20$ dinner is not going to adversely impact the budget, neither pwc nor client expects you to cook your meal after a tiring day.
M1, you don’t have to create your own policy, does the policy say you have to go to bed starving or cook the meal after a tiring day, take it easy man
M1, Further, if you have to use your own logic, then you shouldn’t be expensing breakfast on Mondays, so for the next trip please make your own breakfast at 3 AM in the morning, and good luck with it.
@M2 hear hear!
No. IRS regulation. I get something at the client airport that doesn’t stink and bring it on the plane
Thanks!
I do it all the time. My rule is if landing is past a normal dinner time then fair game. I typically land at 9-10pm so don’t think it’s questionable. Although if I my flight leaving is after 6-7pm I typically plan 30-45 for dinner at airport before takeoff
Do it.
I always do this.
M2, the point isn't whether or not it hurts anyone's bottom line. Like it or not, expenses are often viewed as a proxy for professional and personal ethics, and even small violations can have big impacts. Like you said, it's only a few dollars, why risk your job and reputation over it?
@mgr1. Using your logic....is your firms expense policy a reflection of their ethics or how they value their employees
SC1, it would be helpful if you could provide the link of IRS regulation that prevents consultants from charging dinners on Thursday.
Even if the irs says it....your company and project can do whatever they please
It would, wouldn’t it 🤨🧐
The IRS guidelines are vague.
The key question to ask yourself: are you on a business trip?
How I interpret it absent any other guidance.... if I haven’t reached Home Office or residence, I’m still on a business trip.
