Husband and I have been on a long journey TTC, and haven’t been on a vacation since September, just before we found out about our second trimester loss. Now, he doesn’t want to plan any trips so we can save $ for IVF - planned retrieval in late March. Would you recommend we do *something* to get out of town, or will I want to hunker down as I go through retrieval(s) and transfer? It’s been a long, sad slog.
I enrolled in the fertility support program by calling the Optum line through the bright beginnings brochure. Found on dnet
After you enroll they recommend a center of excellence and they work with your insurance (in my case Blue Cross Blue Shield) to activate the benefit. I believe they cover 90% of the cost up to w $25000-$30000 in treatment and $15000 in prescriptions/medications. Your center of excellence will also go over finances with you but since you are covered under your insurance you should be fine without any type of financing.
Your Optum nurse will also be available to you whenever you need her via phone appointment and meets with you every month to advise and follow up on your current treatment with your center of excellence.
Happy to be a resource to anyone who has additional questions or wants to know about my experience!
Talking with someone who has gone thru it is the best way. There is “fine print” that is not on paper anywhere for each provider. Benefits specialists don’t know how it works. And insurance companies don’t tell you until you start going thru it
On paper, all of the plans look the same, and sound fantastic. The reality (fine print) is not the same as what is on paper
It’s specific to your insurance provider, not Deloitte
I’m joining in two weeks, so am not familiar with the options. If my plan is to start ivf, what would be best plan to go forward with? Is there a resource I can make use of to familiarize myself before I join the firm?
Hi, did you end up doing IVF and what plan/did they cover expenses?
A psa for this thread - if you’re at Deloitte and using either Aetna or anthem, you need to register with the optum bright beginnings program in order to obtain your benefits from your healthcare provider
The insurance companies will tell you this only after you’ve already had procedures and submitted claims
