If you need a definition for top 10, you didn't go to a top 10 school
And honestly D1, I don't want to have to remind you of this, but most partners at Big4 went to crappy schools for undergrad and don't have MBAs...
Came from middle office at an investment bank background. 750 GMAT, 3.35 gpa. Ended up going to kellogg. White male.
@pwc I had decent essays and Recs, but nothing amazing. Honestly I think it's mostly a GMAT game at this point.
.
Define top10
Ahahahahahahahaha D1, very funny - I went to Ross, which according to some people is borderline top10
Yale is another example - top10 according to some rankings, top10-20 according to others
Booth & Kellogg admits, among others. 750, 3.5ish from top 20 undergrad with a respectable major
^ Oh yeah, 720, 3.6 Ivy League econ major, admits from Ross, Duke and Cornell
One thing to really take to heart is that the stats are really only part of the equation. Those essays and interviews do count as does work experience and goals for the future. There are many many many consultants applying so it's important to be different. (Top ratings every year doesn't really count as different)
.
Call it top 15. D2 I get what you are saying. I do also believe that it's difficult to step outside of mere statistics in our line of work. Everyone can build up projects they've worked on, it is likely that between two Deloitte/PwC consultants with similar experiences and decent essays, statistics will end up deciding
SC1 what would you say was the key for your successful application besides a solid gmat?
.
If you have less than 4 years, taking a year or so and doing a non-consulting job could be a nice differentiator
