I’m sorry to hear this.
I'm really sorry to hear this! I sincerely empathize with you, especially after having witnessed what my father is going through. For context, he's just a few years older than you and has been experiencing problems of similar nature. He went on LTD for joint replacement for two years and during this time, his position got restructured at his company. His old job involved physical site inspections as a Civil Engineer. Now that he's healthy, since he's part of a union, they were able to accommodate him in a new job. Sadly, he's on probation and this new job involves mostly working on the computer. My dad knows how to use a computer but nowhere near the level that I do. It takes him a lot time to learn new commands and his speed is abysmal. It really pains me when I can hear the manager being overly critical of my father on calls (for not being able to juggle 20 different applications, which are mostly new to him). I'm doing my best to support my dad and get him up to speed. Before his LTD, they didn't even have Microsoft Teams at his workplace.. I really hope he makes it through probation, otherwise he'll face real financial repercussions as finding a new job at his age is extremely challenging. Just sharing this so you know you're not entirely alone. OP, I wish you all the best and I'm sure you'll find yourself in a more suitable spot soon ❤️😊
Wish your father the best!
If there are any open roles at PwC that look interesting I’d be more than happy to make a referral
I'll look!
I am so sorry OP. I am 27 and I have worked with several folks who are far more experienced than I am. I have learned soooo much from them and they have been the absolute best to work with. They are being cruel for stating otherwise. I used to be an analytics instructor for a non profit. I also used to lead T school in IBM. If I can help you get some skills, please let me know. I would be more than happy to spend time with you.
No worries at all. Again I am more than happy to help.
Are they giving you severance? Hopefully that will help while you're looking for a new job
That's good news. You will land on your feet. My husband just got laid off over the holidays and just found a new job that was better than his last. Losing a job isn't easy but you've got this ❤
Happy to refer at ZS Associates. DM me if you find anything.
Happy to refer at Deloitte! I am 51 and my biggest fear is exactly this. We are not old, but… ugh.
