It's always been a dream of mine to work at Google, specifically as a UX designer (currently transitioning into UX from visual design). I've been so afraid to apply to any jobs with UX title, Google or not, because I'm always doubting myself and telling myself I'm still under-qualified.
UX designers & hiring managers, what are the skills a designer must have to be "qualified" for a UX position? Keywords on resume? Certifications? Thank you all in advance!

AR / VR is the wild west right now. I would suggest picking up Lens Studio/SparkAR/Unity and just start making stuff. You don't even need to know how to code to make interesting ideas. Computer science degree will help if you want to start coding and making the experiences crazier. If you just want to work in that field but not develop the work, than any of those places would be great for Interaction Design, but still suggest learning those programs above as it will help you be a better designer for emerging tech. You can DM me if you want, my side hustle is making AR experiences.
For AR/VR, agree that having a portfolio of prototypes is probably more valuable than a degree. Interaction design is a more established discipline so a proper academic background might be take you farther. At any rate, a solid understanding of HCI concepts would be essential whether you get that from an institution or online.
Probably depends on whether you want to work with the more technical/coding side or the more creative/artsy side. Also, you didn’t mention it, and though it’s expensive, i feel like NYU ITP has a pretty good reputation perhaps even more so than Parsons MFADT source:former creative coding prof who taught at ITP— haven’t heard much about the SVA or artcenter programs tho
Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design offers an interesting program if you’re open to eu schools
Nyu idm is also an option—a little more directed than itp but a lot of classes on ar/vr and very closely connected to the r lab (also a good place to look—they have individual classes specifically around ux of ar etc). Fwiw IDM has a part time masters option as well
