For a medical exemption from the covid vaccine is a medical note required if you are pregnant? Please don't lecture me about how I should get it when you know nothing of my situation.

I feel like this is a question for HR and an actual physician, not a group of professional bs-ers.

Why is this in OverheardAtWork?

What OBGYN would give you a medical note for an exemption when nearly every OBGYN is recommending the vaccine?

likesmarthelpful

She’s asking if that’s whats required, not saying her OBGYN has offered this as an option.

likesmart

Not trying to be funny or rude, but have you inquired with your doctor or office about what is allowed under the exemption? Good luck and congratulations!!

like

Here's what you do: You treat the vaccine like every other medical decision in history. You discuss it with your doctor. If you don't agree with the doctor's recommendation, then perhaps you call another doctor or two for a recommendation. If they're all saying the same thing, perhaps reflect on that

likehelpful

Yes you would need a note from a doctor but unless you have a medical reason why you can’t receive it (eg allergies, heart condition, etc) they won’t grant an exemption — I tried. Because it’s recommended by ACOG for pregnant and breastfeeding women they cannot give medical exemptions. Well they won’t.

like

Oh shut up Bank of America. I'm going to tell everyone I can how to get an exemption.

like

I would reach out to your HR department first and inquire about a medical exemption. They likely have a form that you will need to fill out and possibly a medical certification that your doctor will sign off on. You don’t need to disclose this information to anyone outside of HR, so don’t feel compelled to do so.

Blah blah covid… blah blah unemployment, then new job, then unemployment. Fast forward. I feel like my 20s were spent hustling and trying to figure out how to “make it” in the world. I took risks and made moves with my own career as the focus. I found a partner who is my best friend and wants to have children with me. Now that I’m in my early 30s, I make more money than I need and it doesn’t make sense to take risks any more. My partner is moving up in her career. My parents are aging and probably won’t live all that much longer. My brother has a disability that will require (cont)

I’d like to know if I’m being stupid for being underpaid. I’m currently being paid 80k as an A2 in TAS (HCOL), however I’ve been an “acting senior” for the past 6 months. I have great flexibility and I’m treated well at my current firm. And my office is only 20mins away. If I left, I’d join as a senior and make 20k more, but I may give up flexibility, and the commute would be longer. I’m a single father with young kids, so flexibility is important to me. Career goals = partner. Any opinions?

Wife and I are going in with my BIL and SIL to pay for a retirement/40th anniversary/MIL's 60th birthday trip to an island for my parents in law when they retire next year. Father in law has had a lot of frustration, getting included in two mass layoffs in two years and taking two straight 40% pay cuts at the end of his career. We're so excited to give them something to look forward to.
