I’ve worked in SaaS for seven years close to eight.
I have a breadth of skills I’ve been lucky to develop: digital marketing/social media/graphic design +. My side gig is creative project crowdfunding: raised close to 40k thus far. I’ve made a few short film projects, sold one. I’ve been part of or led phases of major GTM launches.

All that said I cannot for the life of me, figure out, how to translate that into a role where I make more than 70K a year? Any advice on how to make it work?

We have a boss who is from a non- data background and constantly promises data and analytics deliveries within hours. The client expects this now. We get nasty comments all the time how we aren’t performing - but how can we in this madness. Personally, 16-20 hours a day is now normal. We are all depressed and anxious. We have no life. Working this weekend. People are quitting, which makes it worse. If anyone complains they risk being fired. Some are on visas. Are there any labor laws for this?

I feel like I’m hitting a glass ceiling of sorts when it comes to representing clients at important events (ie, mediation, hearing, etc.). I’ll handle everything up until that point, but then I get the sense that the client wants the partner to step in and handle the big event. These same partners have told me they think I can handle it and would like for me to, but we ultimately have to meet the client’s expectations.

We are essentially an outsourced controller for our largest client. The owner is taking MASSIVE amounts of distributions over and above income. He’s essentially financed $1M in distributions from his LOC. We have spoken to him multiple times about this and the behavior never stops. What would you do here? Fire your largest client? Do you feel your reputation would be affected when this behavior comes to light? Inevitably it will when he bankrupts the company one day.

I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts. At the end of the episode, an ad comes on for a former client. They were promoting an idea I had almost two years and one agency ago using the idea’s original name. So, I look it up. The words used to describe it are basically the words I wrote to sell it. After many years in this business I haven’t been promoted beyond my current title of Senior Art Director.
