For all the BIPOC doing the diversity, equity and inclusion work at their agencies, solving systemic problems and helping with retention, how many have received raises or bonuses for the extra work? Holding companies are promising donation matching and contribution to causes, but what about to the current employees, who often are paid less than their white peers?

No pay raise, still on Covid pay cut and the sense of urgency around it has diminished the past few weeks.

☝🏾agree. I’m on a group that is helping with D&I and there is a lack of funds given to it.

I’m just asking for DEI work to be included in my scope. I told them if they wanted me to work on this they needed to manage my (and others) workload better so I actually could. They claim they will, but when I spoke to other managers the general consensus is “diverse person is so valuable to workstream that I don’t know if I could make it work, but I get how important it is...maybe you can ask one of the other 5 diverse individuals to do it instead?” It needs to be some sort of agency investment at least if they can’t afford to pay us more right now, but it just feels like free labor still

Is there a way for us to see how much our peers of the same level and different races are making?

Really wish these folk would open source the data!

We recently added DE&I responsibilities to someone’s other job and I pray they got a raise. I suspect they didn’t because tbh my office sucks.

Have any holding companies shared their approach to pay equity, or expressed how they'll be compensating BIPOC for all their additional efforts?

I am looking to gain certification or other credentialing in diversity and inclusion, not only because it would look good on my resume both for future job-search purposes and also to become better educated in this area, which is growing in importance. I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members. Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?

I recently got married and started talking to my sister in law more often. She addresses me as “Bro” EVERY SINGLE TIME. She knows I identify as female. I absolutely hate because it’s a sign of deeply ingrained patriarchy and I also find it disrespectful. I never address anyone as bro, dude, man etc because I honestly find it very disrespectful. I would rather be addressed by my name. How can I handle this situation? We are still forming a reltnship & don’t want to hurt that process. I’m Indian.

is it a red flag to you if your decently sized mid law firm has never once mentioned pro bono opportunities? we don’t have any kind of diversity initiative either and obviously i know how i feel about THAT. but was wondering how weird this part of it is.

Alright so fine there were not many diversity initiatives in the past and not a huge push to create more diversity in organizations. But now is the time you can change that. Moving forward you can put these these initiatives in place.

Help discuss pros and cons. I have a case that's based on a previously litigated matter now brought against another D. I can bring it in State Court where other D was or I can bring it in Fed Court through Diversity. I trust State Court judges in this court and the filing fee is alot less. It might be removed anyway so should I just file in Fed Court?

Hello, we recently built out a technology team at our company. They are a phenomenal team with great work flow, rapport and collaboration however, most are junior in their career which can make it difficult for our senior lead to step away. They all receive professional dev allowances so we would like to work toward identifying possible future leads and laying out a growth plan. Do any of you have best practices, tips or resources in doing this specifically for tech talent?
