Advice needed. I HATE billable hours but recruiters are clamoring to have me apply to open positions in my field at larger firms. I'm at a boutique firm in CA now (real estate, municipal law) and have been here about one year. 7th year attorney. Do I pursue these options? I also have two interviews to work for government agencies (no billable hours). Also would be open to in-house counsel roles. Right now my billable hr target is very fair, compensation is decent, work is decent. Thanks.

My wife and I are looking to buy a home in Bucktown close to N Western ave at W Armitage Ave. Any one here living in the area and open to tell more about it? Specifically want to know more about: What is the typical age group here? Is it a good area to start and raise a family? How is the neighborhood? Is it a diverse neighborhood? Also how would you compare this with West town/Wicker park area? Happy to also chat privately or provide more clarity. Home price ~ $650-700k

Share your story, and why you’ve chosen to work with your firm or custodian here. So many BD’s force their clients onto expensive platforms. Raise awareness and help reduce client fees.
I learned that male associates with around six years less experience (and significantly less responsibility) have a salary comparable to mine (w/in $5k). I raised the issue with firm management, and I was told that associates were given a “bump” during the summer because of a “market shift.” I’m waiting to hear when/if I will receive a similar comp adjustment. Given the time that has passed, I am not hopeful. Thoughts on the best strategy for pushing the issue? FWIW - AmLaw 200 firm in ATL.

Hi Folks, Need opinions from experienced Management consulting folks: Is it a wise decision to leave Deloitte USI Strategy practice for Accenture strategy in Capability Network when I am due for promotion to Engagement Manager? I am getting 40% hike from Accenture CN when my promotional hike in Deloitte is expected from 25% to 30% (my guess). What should I do? Renegotiate / Stay / Switch.

So I live in a state where minimum wage is going up to $15 non-tipped and $12 for those who get tips. My friends and I were discussing whether 18% was still the appropriate tip. For reference, prior to the min wage hike, non-tipped wages are $10 and tipped wages are $6.98. Some were of the opinion that tips should remain the same. The others say that tips should be value-based on the service received, i.e. an actual gratuity rather than considered part of the wage. Any thoughts?
I’ve realized I don’t really like kissing. I like other forms of physical intimacy but I simply do not enjoy making out and the partner really makes no difference. Is this weird? Does anyone else feel this way?

Thoughts on Masters in Environmental Management programs? UCSB, Yale, etc. I have a non-technical degree (Bachelor of Arts) and have been in management consulting at a Big 4 the last 5 years. I want to pivot my career to do something more meaningful - make a positive impact in the world, rather than continuing to help rich corporations get richer. Thinking that doing a Masters will help arm myself with environmental / sustainability knowledge and a network.
