For any desi person that still lives at home with your parents, how do you deal with the emotional abuse and yelling from your parent(s)? As I get older, it’s affecting me more now. Any tips to not let it affect me and ways to maintain happiness? I am caregiver so I’m not going to move out.

You should tell them to give you respect. Emotional abuse and yelling is not acceptable

Walk away mid yelling. Let them know that you’re only going to continue the conversation when they stop yelling. Keep drawing those boundaries

unfortunately the more you try to avoid them more bitterness & stress will develop.

I cry and let it out. Sometimes I hurt myself in front of them so they can see how they are affecting me.

I’m sorry you’re going through this but Do not hurt yourself, please. Seek someone to talk to.

Why not get your own place?

I don’t encourage any kind of destructive discussion by responding to comments or acknowledging them at all. I let them know that if they want to talk through something, they can approach me with respect. Also I help take care of my family as well but they know I’m completely willing to leave and live on my own. I don’t rely on them for anything so they try to not push me too much. I know it seems like moving out is not an option but the situation won’t really change. Your parents won’t change. Either you deal with this somehow indefinitely (which I wouldn’t recommend) or you create some space and take care of them from a distance.

I am getting ready to send my 2 year old toddler to a toddler program next week for the first time. Have to fill out a form “bathroom waiver”, which is basically allowing teachers at the school to clean my child after a potty, including genital area. I feel uneasy about this but I know I have to let them… I assume all parents have signed such waiver?

Curious if there are any single parents that have more than 1 kid? Tempted to try for number 2 but being a single mom of more than 1 kid is scaring the $hit out of me.

What is the best gift you got as a new parent? A coworker just had his first kid and went on paternity leave. I just started with the team but offered to send him a gift. Partner is paying for the gift. I don’t have kids and have no idea what would be helpful either now or once he comes back to work as a new parent. Appreciate any ideas!

Random question but do you let your kids hang out in your bedroom and use your master bath if applicable? My kids always seem to want to use our bathroom instead of theirs and my spouse doesn't care but I grew up with my parent's room basically being off limits and think I'd prefer it that way.

I am an obese female and already on track to lose weight. I want to start planning for a baby soon but want to do it after losing weight in about 6 months so that I have a healthy pregnancy. But also concerned that I am getting older, 32 already. Should I just go ahead and start planning or wait for about 6 months until I have lost a good amount of weight? What’s more important age or weight?

With social security potentially running out, why couldn’t it be an option for the govt to put $5k for every baby that is born in a year into an account Invested in a govt share class S&P 500 fund. Historical average is 10%+, which would provide roughly $2.7 million for a baby born today. Eventually, this would eliminate the need for soc sec tax, and would only cost $18 Billion a year instead of several trillion a year being deposited into the trust.

Started as a baby legal assistant about ten years ago at a transactional firm - now the majority (seven years) of my experience is in litigation. I am wanting to move more toward transactional or in-house now. Am I basically starting completely over? I am well respected and sought-out in litigation, but I'm unsure of how to market myself in the direction I want to go with as much confidence. Has anyone successfully made this move?

Have any of you ladies switched birth control pills after only a week? I’ve been on my old pill for 1.5 years and it’s been mostly great but told my gyno my libido is much lower. She suggested mini pill and it’s been a nightmare. I’ve thrown up, hot flashes, awful heavy, clotty bleeding (sorry if TMI) and a headache everyday. I do feel like I have my libido back up though, only good thing. I want to switch back to my old pill, but not sure if I should after just a week. Gyno says it’s up to me.
