I was literally thinking about this today.. I feel so lonely but I don't even have the energy to make friends
Nope, definitely not. And it sucks bc for Deloitte at least their cohort models lends itself really well to developing a support system but because everything is remote, it’s very hard to form those connections and have those moments that turn into friendships. Previous cohorts seem so close to their peers.
Feeling this pain too at D
I have a couple friends I went to school with who are the same place but other than that, not much
I’m very lonely at work and don’t feel a connection w anyone
Very hard. Luckily I have an amazing counselor and have managed to attach myself to different people I liked throughout the couple months. Starting to feel a little better these days.
Recently got a new coach that has made me feel heard and supported. They’ve given me resources, talked to people on my behalf to get me staffed where I want, and listened to my tears and frustrations. If you don’t feel supported I highly encourage you to try and either build a relationship with your coach or put in a request for a new coach that you already have a relationship with. A coach is supposed to listen to you, fight for you, and help you navigate PwC.
I don’t, really, but I have a support system in my personal life, which is 100x more important
You would have to put work into it right when you are specially a new joiner. It’s a lot but acknowledge that people will not start reaching out. You have to put an effort to start building relationships. Try connecting with your coach and RL and see how it goes. In terms of mentor, it doesn’t have to your coach. If there’s a SA or manager that you are interested in learning from their experience, reach out to ask questions. You build your network by connecting with people and showing interests in what they do.
