For anyone looking to restore brushed surfaces on a watch - this sandpaper works really well. I was able to remove a large scuff on the bracelet of my Grand Seiko (should have taken before and after pics). 15 micron grit matched the original brushing perfectly.

Or just leave the scratches until service. You don’t want to be polishing every time you have a scuff.

If you have to do this spend the money and get bergeon sanding blocks

It's a 9F quartz - it will likely be decades before it goes in for a service, as I replace the battery and lubricate the case gasket at home.

I solved my problem for under $10 with jewelers-grade sand paper...why would I purchase the sanding blocks?

Awesome tip!

It worked really well! I practiced on a less expensive watch first, and then tried it on the GS. The key is to move the paper as straight as possible in one direction with the grain. I sanded one of these links and the others I left untouched - even when looking through a loupe it's hard to tell which one I sanded.

Is RPA sales engineering a good career pivot now? Have been in Cloud SE for 5 years and it is getting mundane. Forget about the Data and AI, realistically majority of the work is around VM migration + RFP + Pricing + pushing commit 2x more than customer's current need, instead of really adding technical and business value to the customer.

RPA seems to be on the rise, there are certainly risk but the value + technology seems to be closer to reality. Love to hear more.

Hello HR folks. Overheard a conversation at work and am curious what is the norm.
If an employee goes out on FMLA, obviously the benefits person sends them the STD, FMLA paperwork etc. But is it the maagers responsibility to maintain communication with the person out on leave and to get a timeline on their return or would that be the benefits team? Or maybe the HRBP?

Hello all. Thinking of switching from IT to VLSI after 4 yoe. Any suggestions?

Is there a recommended path here? Long one, finished in the comments.

So I make around 35% below market for my titled role. My employer used “startup” as the reason when I was hired, but they’ve finally stopped using that excuse. I was fine with it, because I was promised a promotion within 12 months due to scope change. I’ve now been promoted twice, but in responsibility only. My boss said it’ll be another 18-24 months until my director promo is approved and goes into effect. More in comments

I went client side and am miserable - it’s madness on this side. Have made it 90 days and would prefer not to make it more than 120 - but we’re in a pandemic. Half of the problem is that I “onboarded” remote and the onboarding was TERRIBLE. The other thing is that there is no process and I’m on a team full of managers who have spent 15 years at this company and have no availability to talk to me with a day full of meetings. I’d prefer not to quit without a backup but I cry every day.

Thought/question I have been wondering for a while below.

I am about to start looking for engagement rings…. Thoughts on finding a jeweler that also sells Rolex’s and possibly try to get a bundle deal (looking for spend around 20ish k on the ring and just a datejust for the watch)?

I am in NYC but open to surrounding areas if anyone has any jeweler suggestions.

No idea if this is a stupid thought but figured it would be worth seeing if anyone has any experience or thoughts on this. TIA.
