For anyone that started at big 4 as an Experienced hire, what was your experience like? Was it difficult to adjust?

I had 9 months of regional experience, where I was accustomed to working directly upper management as opposed to seniors that barely know anything. Aside from that, just minor adjustments like any employer change.

It was the best decision in my accounting life. New teams and new projects. Was able to also get a nice pay bump ✊. If the offer is good I would take it.

I was in an almost completely unrelated field with no audit background. Came in as a staff 2 being promoted to senior. I had about a year of tough transition, but it turned out well. Got a 5 this past year 5 years in. I think starting at a higher level with no audit background would be close to impossible

I think it all depends on your previous experience. If you are used to a civil service job it's a big adjustment but if you don't like that then it's a good change. It's really an individual experience. I personally enjoy it and glad I made the change.

This is the most basic question, so yep, I’m asking you to take it easy on me when you reply. I have been practicing for about 5 years total. I have been in civil practice for 2 years. These 2 years have been the most demoralizing, unfulfilling 2 years of my life. I have been giving myself pep talks to find the “positive” spin on it but firm life isn’t for me. I know networking is key but do you have some thoughts/suggestions on how to make an exit...crying at therapy is becoming too much.

LEK 🐠: if I switched to LEK after 1.5 years at another consulting firm, would I completely reset to entry level or would I be able to get offered an AC role or at least come in as an associate on track for a promo within a year (as opposed to having to complete the whole associate tenure like campus hires)?

Hello I am curious to know what people think of getting a masters degree in Data Science. I am looking at a program that is 32k which compared to others is not as expensive. I have experience with python and I work on my own projects but no professional experience. I am finding it extremely hard to break into an entry level data analyst role. I am hoping that a master degree would help with that process.

Hi all, I have the long-term goal of ultimately getting into a good Venture Capital firm at Associate level. I currently work at Amazon , did my undergrad and Masters in Economics at LSE. I have 2 main questions:
1) Is it even possible/feasible to pivot from Amazon to VC given my background?
2) I have the option to internally transfer in Amazon to a product/program manager role or AWS in a start-up Manager role - which of these would be best to maximise my chances of eventually getting into VC?
