My phone didn’t get fully wiped. Just certain contacts were removed if they weren’t part of my personal groups. But you don’t have to reinstall everything on your phone.

Yes to first question. Just backup and restore. On the second question, I can't recall if removal also results in a wipe.
I strongly advise you don't try to escape wiping your phone. Keep a cloud/local backup, and you'll be fine.
Oh the rumor mill.... it doesn’t wipe your phone. Anytime you remove MobileIron (before or after leaving the firm - including if you get a new phone at some point and remove access to the old phone) it will take with it any KPMG information including access to KPMG apps, email, calendar, contacts. That is all. If you have added contacts while on the KPMG network, those may disappear because they’re linked to the network. You can back those up separately.
