I have a brief resume gap from near the beginning of covid but have been at a new employer for >1 year. I’ve been asked about said gap during in-house interviews, but it’s generally been cursory and I give the explanation agreed upon by former employer. Was pressed a bit harder recently by being asked “will x former employer confirm [the story]?” Is this in and of itself a bad sign? Are they trying to catch a lie?
Shoutout to whichever firm helped stand up the government’s free Covid test ordering website. Legitimately shocked at how smooth it’s running and hasn’t crashed (yet)

The federal stance is shifting regarding the reopening...”He [President Trump] demanded that all of the nation’s schools reopen for the fall semester — until, suddenly, he allowed for some wiggle room.” The Washington Post https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trumps-week-of-retreat-the-president-reverses-course-as-the-coronavirus-surges-out-of-control/2020/07/24/bf680c2c-cdc2-11ea-91f1-28aca4d833a0_story.html

Trump tests COVID-19 positive! First reactions?🤔
I probably have the flu or Covid. Testing appointments are very difficult to find right now. Should I just isolate for a week? Not sure what I would do with the result of the test.
Another early Covid hero losing the battle.
I have about $150K sitting in Barclay's savings for a few years now. Plan has been to use the money as down payment for a house. Bur due to cross country move, COVID, etc. we haven't been able to buy the house yet. I want to keep the fund liquid since we aim on buying a house this year. What are some of my options to keep the money as liquid as possible while getting a good interest?
I’ve smoked unfiltered Pall Mall for 14 years and two months. Before COVID I’d smoke 1/2 ppd. During COVID I’ve spiked to 2 ppd and sometimes smoke during video conference calls. Now my lungs need breathing room, but I can’t find a low-tar, low-nicotine cigarette that gives me rich tobacco flavor. Any suggestions?
Would you rather... A) Everyone gets instantly infected and 20% at random (regardless of risk) of the world dies, but covid ends immediately B) Covid and social distancing lasts for another 6 years

Bicipetal tendinitis - which, it looks like I have been having for several months (first noticed 9 months ago), but did not realize it was lingering because I had not been lifting during Covid lockdown. Thought it was my rotator cuff, but PCP thinks it's tendinitis. Anyone have any tips or tricks for fast recovery, and approx timeframe from experience? Also any one experienced a misdiagnosis? Thank you in advance.
Does anyone else feel like Olympic campaigns are seriously subpar this year? (One exception being the skateboarding FB ads by Droga). Normally I feel like there are at least several great campaigns you see over and over and this year I literally can’t even bring many to mind. Wondering if the cause has been covid production restrictions, or less money pumped in due to fear of the games being cancelled, or brands feeling like the Olympics shouldn’t have even happened. Thoughts?
Help me out, everyone seems to be having much milder symptoms with Omicron. Is the hospital capacity issue due to people panicking and going to the hospital despite having mild symptoms or because staff are out with illness? I don’t understand how the medical system is on the brink of collapse right now. Maybe I have a skewed view of Omicron based on anecdotal experience?
Is dizziness a COVID symptom? Have mild to moderate dizziness for 5 days now, what gives??

Specifically, they were a recently acquired beverage company who’s CEO was in a sexual scandal and then the company went into layoffs and rushed get more investor money to try to salvage the business. Needless to say, it didn’t work but the brand got sold to some super conglomerate. All this to say, do I put the good work in my portfolio? Do I keep it password protected? What would you do?

Asking for advice please. I’m making 57k as a Finance Coordinator (2 yrs). My work is a hybrid role: 1) Exec assistant for a C-Level exec, 2) Financial Analyst. I cannot become Analyst now due to an on-going visa application that is going to take about 1-1.5 years. I am very grateful that my company is willing to help me with my visa (around 10k) this year. But I am thinking about asking for 70-75k since living cost in LA is pretty high and sometimes my bank account can be negative. What to do?
No promotion...no longer feel like giving 110%.
