Is it an internship for an untrained, zero experience grad that pays to help cover verrry basic costs, or is it really just a Shiite paying job?
It’s basically an externship for someone who just graduated from undergrad or is in grad school. You can survive on $23K in Raleigh-Durham if you’re just starting out. A lot of ramen, and need roommates but you can do it.
Unfortunately this is reality for a lot of entry level jobs in sports, especially media/comms related
Is it a graduate assistantship?
“A graduate assistantship helps students pay for grad school through a combination of tuition waivers and cash compensation. The position also might offer worker benefits such as health insurance, housing and meal plans, although the terms vary by school and by position.”
Are the benefits, room and board and food pass?
That’s barely living wage in NC.
My first job in 1998 was 27k. That benefits package better be golden.
Mine, in TV/media in NC in 2004 was $18,500 so...remember the market and the field for this role, entry level sports comms in an area that is really just a large college town with 3 major universities (UNC, Duke, NC State) a few miles apart.
My first job salary was $28k including benefits plus overtime. An assistantship sounds like it's an apprenticeship 24k with a benefit package sounds reasonable especially for the level of contribution you can make to a big athletics name without much experience to get there. It's a job for someone with stronf passion for it. Does the job pay overtime?
