No but I do think you’ll see companies be more aggressive in hiring people to work remote from places with cheaper labor. Zuckerberg said they aren’t going to pay people Silicon Valley salaries to work from St Louis and I think you’ll see that become more common.
EY1 - But that kind of is the OPs point. Maybe not as a “privilege” issue, but I think it is very likely companies will use this to reduce wages. In your example, if the company is located in St Louis, they won’t pay Silicon Valley cost of living to a WFH candidate there. Not being snarky, just sharing an alternative view.
KPMG1, a lot of jobs require domestic degrees or certifications or are just better done by someone domestic. But sure lots of jobs can be offshored to other countries like companies have been doing for decades.
