Why is it so difficult to make the next career move within your OWN company. I have over 7 years of experience across multiple departments and yet an external company is more willing to give an interview to select roles than your own home company for the same role internally!!

Where is the loyalty in that !!??

I took a mental health break a mo ago. Since I have came back a lot has changed, for the worse. Everything is an asap project, everything doesn’t have a budget (but billability goals) = burnout. I have a lot of team/group experience but I think it would be an exaggeration to just say for example “formulated Omni-channel marketing plan targeting gen x consumer in consideration of a buy now pay later plan”. I had a role on a team and contributed, but I have heard recruiters are off put by stating you were part of a team effort since they don’t know your contribution to it.

It’s too late to do anything now, but I’m curious to see if I should’ve done anything different: accepted a position in the fall in a pretty new type of role. I couldn’t find much info on compensation and the offer seemed reasonable especially given my lack of experience so I accepted w/o negotiating. Should I have tried to get more?
