I tell my daughter that I have to work to buy her things she needs, toys, and holidays to her grandparents because we live very far. I outsource a huge amount to other family, so that my daughter feels connected and this works well as she’s always playing with her extended family and school friends, she’s 6. I do miss a lot, I know that, but I’m working for her future. We still eat breakfast and dinner as a family every day and the weekends we mix it up between dedicated time with her and doing other things. Is work more important than her, no, but the work allows her to have a strong future. I have also stopped traveling so that I’m home and I make decisions that may not add to the bank account, but I earn a decent enough living that money is not the driver. I may outsource the daytime, but I put her to bed every night and there’s no negative when it comes to being home for story time.

This man being deadass too LMAO
Just handed in my notice. Consulting was worth the family sacrifices for a couple of years, so that doors can be opened, etc., but after a certain point it stops being worth it. For me that point came when exit opportunities paid enough and were interesting enough to support a much better overall life for my family. Sure I could stay longer and see large pay bumps every other year, but not worth it in the grand scheme of things.
Uhh. Hell no?
Go to bed Deloitte

On which kid?

According to people I work with, no
Sir/Ma’am have you considered calling a therapist?
I don’t have kids yet. My job will not be more important than my kids, no way.
My kid is my purpose in life.
Nothing is more important than making him a good, kind and a happy grown-up.

I already sacrificed 2 of my kids to the gods so I would have a good meeting with a tough client.
No, but my job pays for my kids to have a roof, food, and fun things like vacation. I’m not going to sacrifice my family for my job but at the same time I’m not going to use family as an excuse for everything as I’ve seen so many people do.
Well said.

Hahahahahahahahahaha!
Not a chance.
Family first each and every day
The obvious answer is no...kids>job
That being said, we all work soooo much that sometimes we lose focus of what’s important.
We all went to go work at big firms because we have some sort of talent and we all want to make it.
Im 30 now and about to have my second child. my 9-5 just isn’t that important to me anymore.
The only thing that interferes with my family time is a startup me and my wife are trying to build.
Your 9 to 5 doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things.
Obviously I’m not saying not to do your job but Companies will literally suck the life out of you and will just keep putting work on your plate unless you say no.
When you’re young and no kids that’s fine. It’s almost expected.
Now that I’m older I’m not gonna live that life. They pay me to work 40 hours and that’s what I’m gonna work. Give or take 5 hours, but I’m not pushing 60 hour weeks anymore.
Ma’am this is a Wendy’s
The saddest thing I've heard was a SM saying he had missed his child's birth because of a client meeting across the country. And he wasn't showing any regrets about it either, he was almost boasting.
I swore to myself that I would never work for that guy, and that I would never be like that either.

Nah, other than that I need money to house and feed my kid.
You work with your job for years but work with your kids for a lifetime.
Yes for D. Rest us minions its a big fat NO
