McKinsey & Company Has Mckinsey met BA headcount quota for the year/did they freeze hiring? I interviewed and got to last round last year, and applied again with a referral two months ago but haven’t heard anything from recruiting. Last year I heard back within 1 month of referral drop. I would’ve thought with my 1 more year of experience I should be able to get an interview easily.🥲 McKinsey & Company

In terms of value of the years, there will be many positions that are specifically for Ex-consultants and have the YOE tailored as such - typically roles like corporate strategy, corporate dev, etc.
For your average industry roles, such as an AD of analytics, or something of that sort, then yes, your years are often going to be valued more than someone who has only been in industry.

I don’t think the latter is true—you have limited/no operating experience so very few people will trust you to go in at a higher level. Your example of AD analytics is not ideal — even your top decile mgrs. likely won’t have good enough analytics capabilities.
The easy way to hop is to go to the ex-consultant roles, learn about the biz, then jump to the operating rolesZ
Following. Worried about BA->EM not getting appropriate exits.

I think both matter.
McK EMs with 3-4 YOE won’t get same exit opportunities as EMs who came from MBA with more YOE.

2 for me. New EM here.
I think so, problem is that AP comp is considerably higher and will be hard to match the new comp.
