For google reviews, can colleagues leave reviews? Not employees of the same firm, but people at other firms with whom you worked or worked against? Or former classmates from law school?

Yes, but their wording has to be in a certain way.

What way would that be, if you don’t mind me asking?

Like I know X to be a great lawyer, skillful litigator in tbe court room and refer many of my cases to him with a disclosure that he's not a client but a fellow lawyer.

You'll see a ton of these if you go on Justia.

Got it! And that’s also kosher with google reviews? Just don’t want to give my boss this advice then get his account delisted.

Maker sure whatever the reviews say don’t out you as a Republican. Then your account might get delisted.

Hi all, received an offer from a ny startup. Company offered a MLE position with two package options -

1. 110 base + 5k options over 4 years with yearly vesting
2. 130 base + 1.5k options over 4 years with yearly vesting
Current strike price ~$5
Exercise price ~$1

I’m wondering if people here could provide an estimate on how competitive an offer like this is? I expected something closer to 150k base but not sure if that’s unrealistic or not

PLEASE HELP! I’m a first year commercial litigation associate at a boutique firm. I am deciding between two offers. One is to go in-house paying roughly the same as I make now. The second offer is from big law as a commercial real estate associate, paying double.

I would love to go in-house and never worry about billable hours again but the big law money is super tempting. Advice?? Is the money really worth it?

I had a disbarred attroney interview for a assistant position. The conduct was effectively she had emotional issues, abandoned her clients and then was disbarred.

She seems as if she got the help she needs and can move on productively. The pros are she can effectively do everything I do and she is cheep. (For obvious reasons).

I want to give her a chance am I making a deal with the devil?

I don’t work in big law, but some of my classmates, who are going into big law, are bragging about the low number of billable hours they are required to hit. I’m hearing 1,600-1,800 billable hours. Is this actually true? Are some firms paying Cravath and only requiring 1,600 for the year? I know it depends on the firm, but can anyone actually confirm this is their experience? If so, then I’m a little jealous 🙃

I'm a summer associate at a midsize firm and I recently found out from a partner that some of the other partners who have assigned me work mentioned how my work product didn't look proofread. I know that proofreading is really important and this gave me the gut check I need to remember to proofread before submitting any assignments. However, I only have 2-3 weeks left. Should I own up to my mistakes to the partners I've submitted work for? How screwed am I for a return offer?

Curious as to how others wind down after particularly long, taxing days. I sometimes have really tough days (lots of work, meeting relatively short deadlines, etc.) and I find it really hard to wind down. Also, sometimes if I make a mistake, it’s hard for me to drown out my thoughts and not dwell on it for the rest of the night. I try to remind myself not to be too hard on myself . However, I find it physically hard to wind down.

(FL) So I currently work in ID, storm claims etc., and would appreciate any advice the great people here have.

I have been practicing for about 1 1/2 years. My current case load is approx. 80-90 cases with very little supervision and a shared assistant. This is essentially impossible to keep up with and the pay is horrible.

I want out, but feel as though I’m an undesirable hire due to the above and I went to a bad law school. Is a recruiter the way to go? How do I transition out of ID?
