For incoming/graduating/graduated MBAs- how did u finance your MBA between savings, loans, scholarships (%s)? If you took loans, how much did u take? Would you suggest using 401k/IRA money if needed?

$100k in loans, $70k in scholarship. Definitely don't use 401k money. Max out your loans first. Research early about scholarships. Many schools and orgs have ones you can get but they often don't advertise them well, especially if you don't ask. Obviously keep your loans as low as possible but it's not really that big of a deal as long as your desired/expected post MBA salary increase accounts for your monthly loan payment, adjusted for taxes. Expect to pay ~$300/mo for every $25k in loans.

like

$50k loans, $25k+ in scholarships, low income tax refunds. Don't use the 401k, not worth the penalty.

Savings. Drained em.

Savings drained and then loans. Most people I know go this route.

All the loans

I anticipate using about my savings for housing and then the rest in loans and hopefully scholarships.

For experienced accounting professionals considering a transition into a career with solid work/life balance, a fast-growing biotech company near San Francisco is hiring for a SOX Compliance Manager and Senior Accountant/Manager roles. Roles pay well over $100k.

Generous benefits, fun company culture, and VERY favorable stock options. Message me if interested, and I will try to screen you for an interview!

Anyone have any idea when the hiring freeze might end within AWS ProServ? I’m currently at Amazon and have a TS clearance, PMP & CSM. I come from a Big4 consulting firm with a background in Enterprise Performance. I’ll be honest and say I’m not feeling very safe in my current role with the ongoing layoffs. Instead of leaving, I’d love to go back to my “consulting roots” and join the ProServ team. I’m taking my AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam next weekend. Hoping this freeze is lifted soon.
