For insurance agents out there , I live in Florida ,what’s a better license to start off with? Life and health or p&c? Which do you find more enjoyable to sell and which would be more lucrative? Also , do any of you know of any companies that starts off with base +commission you can possibly refer me to ? Thanks in advance :)

P&C is easier because there's less emotion involved and people tend to already accept the fact that they need coverage. Life insurance is harder because it can be challenging to convince someone - especially someone young and in good health - that they need life insurance. Have to play more on emotions (e.g. what would happen to little Suzy if you died unexpectedly). Works for some people, but can be upsetting for others. Just my personal experience, so take it with a grain of salt.

Feel free to send me a message. I specialize in one line of business but have a great understanding of the landscape and can help. We also have agencies in Florida I can refer you to.

Would think Life Insurance since so many retirees move out to Florida. Lol, either way, I think you're definitely on your way to being set.

I've heard a lot of uncertainty in the P&C space. P&C mainly pertaining to auto and homeowners insurance seems to be quite uncertain for some folks living in some states. Mainly from what I've read in insurance groups on Facebook.

But some P&C people get their CPCU designation and go on to other corporate jobs with that designation. Like risk management.

Life&health is pretty consistent no matter where you live. Then people go on and get their securities licenses to do more wealth management type planning.

We have some openings on the P&C side. We do not write L&H at all. Feel free to message me if interested or comment if you have questions on P&C

Hi guys, I’m debating switching careers. I’m currently a mortgage loan officer but I’m very interested in SE. My degree is in finance. There’s a coding bootcamp near me called Boca Code that’s supposed to be top notch. I’m curious for feedback on 1. Are coding bootcamps actually a way into the industry like they’re marketed? And 2. What is a realistic starting salary for entry level SE? I’ve read and been told 90k, but that seems high.

How do we strike a balance between recruiting the summer associates for the firm and being truthful about how awful this job is? I’m pretty good at putting on a front (hence being chosen to be a mentor), but I feel super guilty about not being 100% honest with my mentee. She says that everyone seems to have much more balanced lives than she expected and big law must not be as bad as she’s heard, and I try to respond positively but somewhat truthfully. But really I’m close to a mental breakdown..

Whom you surround yourself with is a choice, just like everything else in your life.

Don't underestimate the strength you can gain from having the right people by your side who genuinely support you through good times and bad. You shouldn't make space for people who bring constant negativity.

I left gecio and went to liberty mutual, but I’m not liking their way of evaluating claims. They rely heavily on Mitchell which is a pricing tool and their reductions are excessive. I’m thinking of switching back to Geico and was wondering if anyone has gone back to their previous carrier. I used to be a lit adjuster at gecio and now only handling soft tissue claims, which is extremely boring. I’m gonna be going through liberty’s litigation training at the end of June.

Is it common in the industry for licensed insurance agents to not get any commissions on a referral in which you personally write the policy? Ex: If a current client refers a prospect to our team, I would not receive commission. Additionally, if I write a policy for friends/family I would get a small incentive but it’s a fraction of the commission producers make.
Management is considering changing this going forward. However, I’m not sure how I should react if they keep things how they are now.
