Definitely! There’s a strong link between ADHD symptoms and estrogen levels, which drop significantly during your period. There’s also evidence that ADHD symptoms improve noticeably during pregnancy because of the increase in estrogen. I am a mess during my period. My ADHD goes off the rails and my emotional regulation is exceptionally bad 🫠

I track my moods using an app called Moody and have noticed that I definitely have peaks and lows that are pretty close to my cycle...I am trying very hard to plan things around my cycle to some extent to make it easier for my brain
Same. Just switched from Wellbutrin to Prozac for this combo. I have mild depression two weeks, then extreme irritability and unmanageable OCD/anxiety symptoms for two weeks every single month. Wellbutrin helped for a while but suddenly made it worse. Switching to Prozac daily since it’s approved to treat PMDD.
Thank you. I haven’t been down that road yet.
That makes so much sense. Always felt better when I was pregnant.
I hate my menstrual cycle...my mood, my headaches, my ADHD...everything is messed up around it. I cant wait to hit menopause.
I’m there and it’s worse. Headaches still and ADHD is worse than ever and I wasn’t diagnosed until I was in my mid 30’s(due to my kids being tested).
My memory and forgetfulness is frightening. I have no idea how I was ever able to run a huge medical practice, maintain my nursing certification, take care of two kids, and manage a narcissistic surgeon/husband(now ex).
Hmm now that you mention it....I do have that. I didn't realize thats what it was but I have been feeling that way this whole week. It has definitely been a rough one.
I have depression too and I've been going through the same as you during my menstrual cycle. It also doesn't help that I have PCOS. I've just about hit the gene pool jackpot.
Thank goodness I am not the only one experiencing this. The hormones get tangled into everything including my adhd. This is why I dread being a woman every single month.

I've definitely been wondering if my ADHD exacerbates my hormones, or if they're somehow connected. I definitely struggle with emotional dysregulation much more when I'm PMSing.
Believe it or not, but the best thing for this has been taking gluten out of my diet. Every time I try to add it back in, I have an emotional flare up around PMS time. It's been over 10 years and my life is much better without gluten.
You just opened my eyes! My bf keeps saying I am so emotional when having my period and he tries to push any serious talk out so that we don’t get into an argument. I got really annoyed by him saying this because I feel controlled. But seems like he has a point
