It’s easier. WFH while pregnant means more naps, stretchy pants and snacks. Commuting/traveling while pregnant is tiring. WFH with a newborn makes pumping a lot easier if you’re breastfeeding or pumping. It also enables you to keep wearing stretchy pants. It’s a LOT of work to get up esrly, get yourself ready for work, pack your pump bag, pack your work bag, pack baby’s daycare bag, get baby ready and get out of the house. Then pumping in the mothers room (or a closet or office) consistently throughout the day. Then transporting all that stuff back home and picking up baby from daycare. It’s exhausting.

WFH is the best, and honestly what I think will lead to women staying in this profession. I have always had flexibility but with WFH as a mother of 3, my life is infinitely better now. Our 3rd was a pandemic baby, and we have a nanny and I feel I have bonded so much more because even though I work 12-15 hours a day way more than I should, just grabbing water and getting to pick her up, or stop and play with her for 5 minutes in between calls is a game changer.

It made my high-risk pregnancy much more manageable (I basically worked from a recliner every day after the first trimester), but I was lucky that everyone was remote. So I wasn’t missing anything. I’m now remote (should be hybrid, but given Omicron and a new baby staying remote). So far it has been helpful to be in the house as the baby transitions to the nanny and has made pumping much easier since I’m not lugging all of my pumping equipment to / from the office

I love WFH

Just yes.

Yes, WFH! I was WFH whole pregnancy. I was able to nap during lunch. I didn’t have to spend money on maternity office clothes. Getting to appointments were so much easier especially during last month when it’s every week. I just went back to work Monday and have a 3 month old. He’s at home with a sitter while I work. I get to spend breaks with him and he doesn’t have to loaded off to a day care. I still get to work in pjs and no commute.

Agreed! Freelance and WFH allowed me to go to appointments so much asier than leaving the office and coming back. Etc. I can't imagine a better scenario. First child 12 appts, second 22! But I could, and I did, without uncensored eyes on me. :)

It’s so much easier. As everyone above said, naps are lifesavers. And comfy clothes. Not puking in an office toilet. Plus after, being able to throw in a load of laundry/start the crock pot/run the vacuum for 20 minutes. Makes the evenings actual family time

All the difference in the world. After doing wfh with my second child, I can't even imagine going back to the way things were before. It was just so miserable and inefficient.

Love this feedback! Thanks, everyone! I was already leaning heavily toward a permanent WFH solution but now my mind is made up 🤣

Having gone through three pregnancies and one of them completely remotely due to the pandemic, it’s the best ever. Stretchy pants. Naps. And all of the above. Also, so much less stressful being out there not worrying about slipping on ice, or catching someone else’s germs, or getting too fat.

like

And by the way, my first two pregnancies I was hybrid and it was nice, obviously better than nothing at all, but fully remote is SO much better.

Echoing what others have said. WFH definitely made pregnancy a bit more bearable, especially in my case as I was dealing with morning sickness up until week 25. I also had a high risk pregnancy and WFH made it much easier to go navigate appointments and meetings.

How did you deal with the morning sickness and working? I’m six weeks and feel like I can’t even get out of bed.

I agree with all of this. 39 weeks here and feel so spoiled going through pregnancy at home. The perks are endless in terms of comfort, money and stress saved on finding maternity work clothes, and just feeling comfortable on the crappy days. The past two weeks have been just moving my laptop from the table to the couch to the bed just trying to stay comfortable. That's a major perk!!

Anyone have difficulties with their Mother in Law? I am married to an only child (son), and beginning to feel suffocated and resentful of all my in laws expect from us. I do like them, but that doesn’t mean I want to spend every other weekend with them. We tried to gently set some boundaries (which my husband delivered), and it didn’t go over well with them. They were offended, and seem to think I’m behind this and “taking him away” from them. In reality we are just trying to live our lives.
