Am I the only one who is happy I got into IT?
I have received offer from Shell and SAP labs is in final stage salary discussion. Shell is offering 6 lacs more than @SAP labs. I have tried to negotiate a lot from SAP but they are not ready. They are putting conditions like give your full commitment to join then only we'll release offer letter. I am currently looking for work life balance with growth. Should I join @SAP considering its a Product based and good WLB and learning? Teck Stack - Java/Micro-services/cloud YOE - 11yrs

Remind myself of how truly miserable I was in PA and then appreciate being bored.
That’s honestly what keeps me where I am. I can’t justify a 20-30% increase in pay in PA either with 3X the work
Op do you want to switch places? I would love to be bored on the job and have extra time.
I would use that time to learn new skills, coding, Python, PoweBI, Alteryx and etc.
I’m not industry, but maybe you should take that extra time to focus on your own endeavor. A side business or a new certification or something unrelated that interests you
Where are these jobs. I would love one
That's why most people will tell you to make the switch at senior/managers, at which point you've got most knowledge PA has to offer.
Working in private at lower level is fine, but you'll find it difficult to compete with former PA people on better position later on in your career.
When I got bored in industry I tried to create projects for myself. Ways to make the process smoother or more efficient or more "value add."
What I realized was the standard monthly stuff/weekly stuff they wanted us to do was a minimum and our closes had a lot of crunch and not a lot of time for self review - so I would start doing a more detailed dive into the prior month looking for mistakes or cost saving opportunities. After about 4 months of every identified problem and/or cost saving recommendation being ignored by management I started looking elsewhere and went back to PA.
I am not bored at all. I have plenty to keep me busy. There are plenty of interesting non-PA jobs out there. I’m also good at finding projects and my VP is very receptive.
Ditto on the comment about learning alteryx, power BI.
Also don’t forget to get your CPE done!
Went back to PA
I got bored in industry & went back to PA. I like the variety of clients & tax returns, but miss being bored. Emailing my old boss to test the waters to see if I can go back. But I would be bored again.
