Has anyone left Big 4 and gone into something else such as private equity or finance? Close to making mgr in tax but wondering if I should have done finance, and what options I’d have at this point

Is WLB (really lack thereof) relatively the same across the board for Big 4? Any firm deviate a little more than the others?

In light of all discussions on FB, it seems to me that individuals at our firm have been removed out of EY beyond PIP related issues.
To help the community brace itself, please provide facts on your Utilization, level, leads, YoE at EY, and network.
My experience seems that the ones let go, had weak network.

There are so many applicants apply to big 4 every year. Why are they still understaffed and have their employees work till 9pm + weekends ?

Was promoted to Principle System Engineer in December 2021 (Technical Band 3) and went from 81k to 98k. Our company has experienced significant attrition (13 engineers down to 4 engineers within 6 months) so a few months ago my director bumped me up to 110k based on me being a top performer in 2021 end of year review. I’m a senior in audit who has been given the advice to stay as long as I can until I’m sick of public. I’m close to manager and have opportunities in my clients, but I am just so tired and over this. It’s been about four years for me here, and I want to quit but i feel like I’m close to manager, that if I leave now I’ll be ‘giving up’.
