Hello there! In my last role i was a Director, and my role before that was Sr. Technical Product Mgr at a bigger company. I figured it would take me years to move up the ranks at a large company, so I left. I was able to make the jump from Sr Product Manager to Director by going to a smaller company. Stayed there for a year or so, then got my current job (Head of Product) back at a big company again.
Sometimes you have to jump ship to get where you want to be. For those looking for a salary increase, you’re almost always going to have to switch companies to get the best offer. (At least that’s been my experience vs promotions.) I doubled my salary when I left my last job.
I echo this as well
I think switching is the only way to get real growth. I got 1 promotion during my 3-year stint, and I'm now seeing that I was SO slowed down...I'm making jumps like never before!
