Have you experienced depression caused by working in really challenging workplace environments? I am worried this will carry into new roles.

After working a couple jobs that weren’t a good fit I’ve exhibited a lot of procrastination, hopelessness, self isolation, and just lack of care. I’m in therapy but also want to make sure I come into any new role with this in mind so I can do my best.

I have been offered a position in-house at a $500M-$1B company, mid-sized city LCOL, 10 YOE in private practice. They offered me $120k, w opp for undefined discretionary bonus. No paid parental leave or 401(k) match & only 1 week PTO in first year (but claim they have discretion for more). Is there any way to salvage this? Salary guides suggest TC should be around $200-215k. I want to get my foot in the door but this seems crazy low.

Is there a type of in-house work that’s more focused on legal research/legal questions/dilemmas b/w law and ethics? Just finding commercial work to be boiling down to "be the literate person in a room full of people pretending to be illiterate"…

When is it time at a struggling company to seek a new role? I’ve only been in my role ~ 1yr. It’s great for prof growth bc I’m on a small legal team in a global co and involved in a wide breadth of matters. High QOL and I like the people.

However, we’ve undergone RIFs (not my region yet). Stock price has taken a hit (above mkt).

Ideally I’d stay at least another year. Ok with some degree of risk bc I’m not the sole breadwinner in my family.

The team seemed great, and the turnover didn't seem terrible as everyone I interviewed with was there for 3 years or longer. It seemed like a great group doing good work. I'm crushed.

Has anyone waived in to MN before as in house counsel? One of the requirements is actively practicing law for 36 of the last 60 months. I was in compliance for a number of years and am wondering if that will be a snag.
