For some background, I graduated with my BS in psychology in 2022 and have worked as a Pre-K teacher for almost 5 years (2017-2021), a mental health technician for 1 year and now I’m a case manager. I told myself I’d obtain a Masters in clinical counseling & become an LPC , but I’m more interested in going to medical school (which was my initial plan anyway). Is it less reputable to do medical school online? I don’t think I’d be able to do much of anything in person with a full time job.

I'm not aware of any way to complete medical school 100% online. Most programs have mandatory hands-on training and clinicals, etc. I don't think it would matter if you got some of your core classes out of the way online, though as long as you end up passing your tests and earning your MD.

like

Agreed. The degree matters most of all.

The coursework can definitely be done online and as long as you school is accredited, you should be fine. There will be some things of course that have to be completed in person, but the program should explain what those things are and give you a schedule far in advance so you can prepare.

Going to a college in person is great for networking and getting hands-on experience. But you can do 75% of the work online, depending on what you want to go into.

like

It's 2023. Most degrees are online anyway, even if you do go in person. lol

like

I mean, it happens. The biggest thing is figuring out the specific school's reputation and where you will need to go for your in-person things when you get that far. They have to be accredited, that is key.

The only situation where I would MAYBE be concerned about having a fully online degree would be if I didn't have any prior work experience. I think you'll be okay as long as you make sure you're getting it from a reputable organization.

Is there an entity that gives accreditation to medical school programs? I hope I’m phrasing that correctly. For example, CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) gives accreditation to universities for masters and doctoral degree programs in counseling. So when I was applying to clinical counseling programs, I only did CACREP accredited schools.

If you decide to pursue med school, whether online or in-person, it's best to carefully consider the program's quality and your ability to balance your full-time job with the demanding nature of med school.

I didn't know there were fully online medical school programs. I searched on Google but it says all programs require some in-person portion. The sites that claim to offer full training seemed a little sketch imo

Does anyone know where I can go to school to get Certified as A Medical Biller and Coder? Looking for an actual school that teaches, hands on preferably, not online in California Bakersfield, Tulare, Porterville,or Fresno? Any suggestions.

Moving to Dallas in a few weeks. Any recommendations for energy companies? Never had the privilege of choosing my energy provider before.

My best friend took a year off work and just traveled around South America with just a backpack and duffle bag of essentials. Aside from activities like bungee jumping or live sports events, most of the other activities costs little to nothing. Debating on saving up and just escape for a bit just like that.

Hello all
I am a biology graduate. I worked in cancer research and development for more than two years. Recently moved to Canada, and now I'm wanting to transition into clinical research.
Most jobs I find online ask for atleast 2 years clinical experience.
Does anyone have any tips on how to procure this experience? Should I invest in a course? Or should I volunteer at a CRO?
I recently got offered a clinical admin position, would this count as clinical exp?
Thanks

I have been at the current hospital I work at in administration for about 11 years now. I am treated great, love the people and love the hours. They allow me to really create my own schedule based on my needs and have taken great care of me over the past 11 years. The only problem is that our CEO has stated that we will never be a company that gives yearly raises, merit based or cost of living. I have been offered another job with a competing hospital but scared to leave. Advise?
