Same here. I actually enjoy when clients give us a hard time. Common enemy and all that.

I think the clients are way less picky because it’s just a different relationship. You’re like a business colleague to them vs. their subordinate like you are to your manager. Clients also aren’t experts in the area, that’s why we’re hired, to tell them things they may not know. Also very different from your manager.

Transitioned into consulting post-MBA (1.5 years ago) and generally enjoyed the experience. Since I joined my comp has gone up ~13% and I’ve liked my project teams but in my most recent review talk my partner told me he thought I was ready to be promoted and had advocated for me but there was an HR rule against it and I was on-track to be promoted in 6 months. Since then I’ve learned that one of my classmates (started 2-3 months before me due to COVID) was promoted last cycle.

Been working on mostly (about 70%) public sector policy and strategy at Big 4 for most of my career. Often go up against MBB on RFPs and have a decent win rate. Would I be too senior to come in as a lateral hire? I guess it’s all about client networks at this level, and being government, it’s locationally dependent - so which markets have need?

There's a lot of backstory to this but I can only type so much SO I've been with my company for 10.5 hours and just found out they've increased their base pay for starting employees $3-5/hr. I have received my annual 3-4% raises, only because I always make sure to ask for it, but nothing more. They didn't even acknowledge my 10 year anniversary with the company and it's a pretty small company (less than 100 employees). I feel I should get a $3-5/hr raise since the base pay was raised. Thoughts?
