For someone struggling with ADHD - should I work out before or after I am done working? I am currently working out after work and have had some improvements with concentration but I wanted to test out working out before work to see if I am more productive.

I like before. If i do after i won’t work out haha. But also it helps me feel like i got the thing i don’t wanna do out of the way. Might be different if you enjoy working out though

Before.

I think it depends on the person. I find that working out on my lunch works well - I am not a morning person, at all, so I really can't bring myself to work out in the AM. I do wait until after my workout to get my real deep work done. It helps get rid of all the excess energy and distractedness for sure.

I have no problem there! Seems like my ADHD prevents me from staying interested in a workout for too long either : ) I do well with a run/sprint combo for about 30 mins or a quick 20 minute HIIT workout.

I wish I could workout before but I am so tired I always end up waking up too late. My project is also incredibly busy and I end up doing 12 hour days. On top of that I have a young daughter who I also need to help with. I'm very active but currently struggling to keep up my exercise regiment, at the moment I workout after work but have started to miss sessions due to late meetings. It's tough but I just need to somehow wake up earlier and get the workout in st 6am.

This is a daily struggle for me. I even set three alarms but I either sleep through them or keep on snoozing. I need some tips to get my butt out of bed at half 5 😭. However funnily enough if I have a meeting at 5/6 to speak to India I have no problem getting up.

Morning has worked best for me. Takes a bit of an effort to hit the gym at 7am but then after two wks it becomes a habit. Specially if weight loss is the goal because you would have been fasting for min 10 hrs

I am so tired during the week, but I try to walk as much as I can during lunch and breaks. Then I do longer workouts on the weekend like hiking, running, etc.

I prefer after although I could se how before would be beneficial. I just don't like to get up early if I am being completely honest.

For me definitely before or during lunch. I just can’t lift weights after work even though I used to all the time. I can run after work during summer months but not when it’s cold and dark in winter. I just like knowing it’s done so I can do whatever else I want when I finish work

If you have improved having to do the workout after work then keep doing it. But if you're curious what will the effect be doing it before work then go ahead. I am happy for you.

You should try working out before work and see which helps you better. I personally prefer working before since I can no longer function after I'm done working, I just want to lay down and rest.

I do both and either way is helpful. If I’m struggling to focus that day, and I work out, sometimes that’s the needed reset, & I can better focus when I come back. Why not experiment?

Try before! I've been working out prior to working for months and I've seen how much it improved my focus and I'm surprisingly a lot more energetic when I do.

In the morning is definitely more effective. I’m pumped and more focused to complete my work

I’m on a VERY toxic project where I really need accommodations but I am scared there will be repercussions if I personally disclose my ADHD like I have on past projects.
