Consulting

For the Accenture folks, On a scale of 1 - 5 (5 being very happy/pleased), how dissatisfied or happy are you with your experience at ACN so far? What makes you happy or unhappy about your experience?

Somewhere between 3 and 4. I'm 10 years in and have found it to be a good place to work, but it sure has changed a lot since I started.

I'd probably say between a 4 and a 5. It's not quite what I expected coming out of school. It's not filled with glamour but I do value the exposure. Some days the exposure is shit but the sunny days make the rainy days more forgettable.

3. It's generally a good place to be if you were aligned correctly from the start. I find that it's a nightmare to navigate accenture from within. It would honestly be a 5 if it wasn't for that. Sad to say that I left this week to industry to realign myself where I want to be. But hoping I can boomerang back, this time re-branded.

2. I was forced to stay in a role I hated during my analyst years. Due to having no other experience, I haven't been able to get aligned to what I actually want to do. I joined consulting to travel and have only spent 1/3 of my career on traveling projects. But all that aside, most of the people have been really nice, and I enjoy the new challenges that come with new roles and projects.

Strip clubs 🙄 so no women on your team A7, or you just actively exclude them?

Same. Was a -5 about three months ago because I was stuck in a role I hated, but basically I just had to find another role, walk off that one and deal with the blow to my performance review but it was well worth it (I think). Now I'm at about a 4 since I'm generally an optimistic and happy person and the only thing I would like better than working with the team I am now would be starting my own company.

3-4. The value prop pitched for strat during recruiting is generally not available, but I like the people.

A5 the girls come to the strip club too, why would we exclude them? It's fun to have them there with us

I'm at a 8-9; loving my location, flex travel, barely any work on fridays and I got a dope manager and team. We go out frequently and hit up hh, casinos, and strip clubs as a team

3/4 I took the ego blow and went with low utilization first year because I was extremely picky on projects. Got a sweet WFH gig now doing exactly what I want to do, with plenty of training and upskilling that I want for my eventual career move into a more design-centric space. People can be great (I've definitely met some rockstars), but for me the flexibility is more why I stay. Sometimes I think I would like to be on a fast paced travel always type consulting project just to make the time pass faster, but I'm actually able to become more of a functioning adult human when I'm working domestically. I like where I'm at for now.

1. My firm was bought by Accenture and the culture here is toxic by comparison. Most annoying are the brainwashed masses and leadership who actually enjoy the firm and help sustain this entire dysfunctional system. #burnitalldown

How do you tow the fine line between sticking up for yourself and not talking back to a partner? For context, our firm has seemingly started making a paper trail for layoffs and I disagree with some of the emails that I have received. I want to respond in a way that covers my own ass. However, I don’t want to piss anyone off, especially if I have read the situation incorrectly.
