For the folks that formerly worked in the audit service line, what is the best client industry to gain experience in to eventually leave to a private company?

I was talking to a first year at a different consulting firm who mentioned that even as a first year, he gets plenty of project staffing options. Is this the norm? I got pigeonholed early

What are some of the oldest tools or technology you've seen at your firm or a client that needs desperate upgrading?

I just got on a project that requires me to be remote. I feel like this is will limit my impact and stunt my career growth and I'm looking for Senior this year. Any advice? Can I avoid the project?

Note of caution. Monday morning travel doesn't mix well with a client site team who are all morning people. I'm on my third cup of coffee and I still can't catch up with these people.

Is it frowned upon to use a stack of post-its to make a countdown of how many days left until you're off a miserable project?

No trust: Client emails you at 4:50 because you are offline walking to a new room between meetings. They think you left for the day. I'm still working.

That time when your favorite client person who is LinkedIn friends with you congratulates you on your promotion when you've been billing at that level the entire time 😶👀

Trying to convince the SM on this new engagement I'm staffed on to send me to the client in Tampa. Audit consultant = remote work 😒

Do you think it’s okay in job interviews to say when they ask as part of “why do you want to leave consulting” that I want better work-life balance (in terms of not working wknds/overtime and travel) and I believe this role/company would offer that based on my conversations with others in addition to my skills being a fit for the role or does that make me sound lazy/too honest to the interviewer? Appreciate any insights!
