For the ones that have dated a colleague, how did it turn out for you? Was it weird in the office? Did your colleagues know you were seeing each other? Mid 20s here looking for wisdom 😳

I've done it at it turned out fine, no longer seeing each other. I've seen it end poorly for others. It all depends on the circumstance of the break up and maturity level of the individuals.

Not in the case, but it has certainly happened. In the example I'm thinking of it resulted in a lot of uncomfortable situations in the office and externally, mutual friend groups. It's hard to avoid your ex when you are within a stones throw daily.

Back in the traveling days, team leadership would typically ‘know’ whether peeps on our team were dating or otherwise even if they didn’t know we knew 😏

I had two coworkers date secretly until one of them left and they ended up getting married. I would never do it myself, but you do whatever works for you.

We have been on 2 dates, some kisses involved too

We got married. Dated casually & eventually people knew about it. No drama. After a couple years he left the firm.

I have done it and lived to regret it. Was in prior life before consulting. Way too much drama, would never do again. Work is somewhere I don't want to even think about emotions I just want to be.

I hooked up with a colleague and he ended up becoming obsessive and wanting to get married. I thought it would be a casual thing given we lived in different states. When I told him I didn’t want anything serious he started acting extremely immature and crazy; started excluding me from meetings and talking about me to coworkers among other things. Was a disaster and I’ll never go down that path again.

Seems like you had found the right one 😏. Jk, sorry to hear about it D2. Toxicity at its finest.

Started dating my colleague at a small consulting firm when we were both 22. We’ve now been together well over a decade, married five years, three kids. Most of the other junior people suspected but my husband left for a competitor after a year or so anyway. After that everyone knew. I don’t think it was weird 🤷‍♀️. Basically, it can go really well… or alternatively it could probably go horrible wrong.

I said I never would but I did once. She was on my team and her best friend was our team lead! I told her that now in addition to giving the lead/her friend Friday afternoon end-of-week status updates she would have to give her Monday morning status updates too.

We got married this year...I ended up leaving that company for a lot of reasons, but one was I had trouble leaving work. I knew things in management that could impact his role, and it was not good for the relationship long term. I would not date anyone on my team or in my direct structure (he was in a different department).

We're married 2 years now with a baby girl. I think it's important to mention that we were never on the same team or same projects or same area of the company. I would not want to date someone that I actually had a chance of working with. We both agreed we will never be staffed together.

How tough is it to break into a FAANG PM role at mid-level if you have less prestigious experience? I have 10+ YOE in product, but some was at a tiny meh startup that fizzled out, some was in the digital wing of a large old healthcare org, and though my current role is GPM at a “name brand” tech company, it’s on the smaller side. Went to a good-but-not-Ivy school. What qualifications and experience are FAANG companies looking for when hiring mid-level PMs? Can I break in at mid-level from here?

I have just over 3 years of experience (2.5 as an Analyst and .5 as a software engineer) and all doing .Net coding. I live in the Denver area, and work remote. What salary is everyone getting for that kind of position? I make 97,000 with a 10% profit sharing bonus (up to 10%). I've also only been with my company under 6 months and got a raise when I got my current job. Any thoughts?
