Hispanics in accounting

For the ones who speak Spanish or a second language: do you guys feel it has been an advantage to be put in interesting projects? Translating, communicating with client, etc?

In my experience it hasn’t been a key factor for most clients, but it has helped on some others. I happen to be on an engagement now for which I was chosen precisely for being bilingual, although that is no usually the case.

Worst conversation ever is telling an analyst the client isn't happy with their work when they have no idea it's coming. Sigh. On a Monday.

For the love of god, give some sort of vocal feedback or conversational engagement to your reps and people presenting shit on the other end lol I’m on the client side and I know calls are whack but man I feel for all the reps and presenters when they ask for questions and people are just dead silent lol. It’s already tough enough presenting in an empty room show some empathy and be a human for a second lol

Hi All- no question, but just sharing a (potentially very obvious) tip that has been working for my anxiety: cutting back on drinking a lot. My project has slowed down over the last few months and with the pandemic and everything it’s been easy to have a few drinks every night and then a few more on weekends. My anxiety went through the roof over that time period, in large part due to different life factors. But after taking a week off from drinking at all, I’ve been in a much better headspaxe

Feel like I have a strong and proven history of founding/leading/driving student organizations (HS/UG), initiatives and project teams, and at this point, it comes fairly naturally. However, I want to pursue an MBA to learn how to think and execute strategically. To ultimately combine my ability to launch and drive with a strategic/growth mindset. Is this a legitimate foundation for an AdCom story? Cont.

Hi everyone, just wanted to share a site that’s been really helpful to me for building mockups for my portfolio & client presentations! It’s called https://artboard.studio , it’s a free/subscription mockup creation site that (for me) has taken all the miserable hassle out of finding good mockup templates, buying them, versioning a million times in photoshop, etc. It costs like $12-13 a month but has been well worth it to me. Hopefully it’s helpful to some of you as well

Had a (Zoom) training today with some fellow junior associates where talked primarily about diversity in our firm. 1 associate (a man) characterized women leaving the firm after starting families as their "independent choices", which I understood to imply that there is nothing wrong with the profession and women leave because they want to focus on families. The group spoke up and rebutted this but it got me thinking - Do partners feel the same? Are partners thinking about (cont.)
